Afro Beat Diary Remembers Fela Kuti And His Lovely Mother

Afro beat diary is celebrating the legend. Fela is the legend of Afrobeat. He fought and criticized the government via his songs. His mother always supported his son as she too was an activist. On April 13th, 1978, General Obasanjo reportedly sent 1000 soldiers to invade Kalakuta Republic where Fela resides.

During the invasion, Fela’s mother, Olufunmilayo Ransome Kuti was thrown from a story building and she died after nine days in coma. Pictures below:
